Unique Film Opportunities

G.I. Film Festival GIFF is a great new opportunity that offers veterans a chance to share their stories. By submitting to this festival or sharing it, new voices will be heard. GIFF will be held in Washington D.C. in April, 2017. GIFF is also currently offering sponsorship opportunities. "The GIFF presents films from new and established international and domestic filmmakers that honor the heroic stories of the American Armed Forces and the worldwide struggle for freedom and liberty.  Some of the films screened are voted on by fans.  Others are screened for the first time.  All will in some way express the courage and selflessness of our fighting men and women and the value of their work." Asian World Film Festival Asian World Film Festival is a festival that encourages Asian voices in film. This festival gathers many films from around the world and gives light to voices that might have never had the chance to be heard. AWFF is held in Culver Cit

American Red Cross: Santa Barbara

A day trip to Santa Barbara's Red Cross made me realize and understand the involvement of Red Cross members and volunteers.                    Jessica Piffero is the head communications leader of Red Cross for the Central Valley. She explained to me the joy of being a part of Red Cross and giving back. By volunteering for the Red Cross, you can simply meet other people, understand non-profits better, and realize more ways to give back to your community.         We had a great opportunity to interview Maureen White, a volunteer during World War II. Maureen gave us some insight from her volunteer experience. Since it is Red Cross's 100th anniversary, it is special to me that I got to be a part of commemorating the service by creating a video that exemplifies Red Cross's goal.

All films that participate in the Festival will have a unique chance to be guided through

Old Town Waffles

(photo by Carole Grosch )            Old Town Waffle is located in Clovis, California. Last year I came to Old Town Waffle with my grandmother and my mother. I got the fresh garden omelet which was very delicious—I now get it every time I go. Every time I have gone it has been delicious and the employees are very helpful. My grandma and mother love going as much as I do.             It's a special place that is in the pit of Old Town Clovis. It's always nice to have a place that is only available in your hometown. If you're ever hungry and do not know where to go, go to Old Town Waffle!

GI Film Festival 2017 Submissions

Check this out—I found this really cool film festival. GI Film Festival is held every year in Washington D.C. The festival honors all veterans and creates a space that offers connection. GIFF is an important platform for veterans to connect with like-minded individuals. I would like to give a special thank you to the founders of the festival, Laura Law-Millet and Brandon Millet. The team who first helps organize and collaborate to create something should always be recognized . "The GI Film Festival (GIFF) is a 501 c(3) non-profit educational organization dedicated to sharing the military experience in and out of the arena of war.  The festival is the first in the nation to exclusively celebrate the successes and sacrifices of the service member through the medium of film." Anyone who has a story about human connection can submit to GIFF 2017. Applying to GIFF would help improve the variety of films revolving around real stories that can impact the world and

How to volunteer for Red Cross in Fresno

How to volunteer for Red Cross in Fresno . That is what I asked myself...             In the next few weeks or so, I will be volunteering with American Red Cross. I’m interested in producing a video for Red Cross to tell someone’s story that involves Red Cross and their mission to help others.  I will not only be taking videos and editing, but I will also be blogging my journey—this will be about the connections and videos I produce.  I’m very excited to be a part of Red Cross’s communication team.             I’m compelled to help others in the community and world that deal with natural disasters because I want to help. I also want to  share more of what Red Cross is doing for the world. This deals with fires, installing fire alarms, earthquakes, hurricanes, medical  assistance, floods, shelters, and so much more.             Red Cross is in need for more volunteers. If you or anyone you know might be i

Philosophy, Astronomy, and Dance

Heaven's Gift and Gallery: a home for philosophers, artists, astronomers, and psychedelic dancers. When I first walked into the store, I took my time looking at all the lights and all the art. He told me a story about how he used to live in London and how his dreams were much like mine. By first meeting him, I had already sensed his interest in art and space. He sells art and lights that make you wonder and think about things you do, rather than do things without thinking. The lights are trippy, the store is trippy. When I first walked in, I had to look at every individual item one at a time. Once in awhile, he would walk by me and tell me more about what I was looking at which I enjoyed. Here is a video I made. https://youtu.be/pCc8MMF8IsE *Down below, I linked an article by Ron Camacho, further engaging in Amir Sade's story for Heaven's.  Heavens: understanding the universe through art Posted by:  Ron Camacho   in  Arts & E
